A North Carolina mountain vacation – The romantic, relaxing trip you & your partner need

North Carolina mountain vacation

The mountains of North Carolina are a beautiful & romantic United States destination

North Carolina is a picturesque US state highlighted by the Appalachian Mountains. With an abundance of mountain towns, stunning vistas, and cabin rentals, a North Carolina mountain vacation is the perfect way to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And it’s an especially perfect trip for couples looking for one-on-one time.

For the first three nights of our honeymoon, my husband and I stayed in a cabin near the Blue Ridge Mountains, which covers most of western North Carolina. After all of the wedding hubbub, we wanted to relax and just enjoy each other’s company. And we found a vacation to North Carolina’s mountains was exactly what we needed!

A cabin in the woods – our perfect North Carolina mountain vacation

For our trip, we stayed at Carolina MorningsRed Wolf cabin located in Fletcher, North Carolina, which is approximately a 30 minute drive from Asheville. On the drive to the cabin, we gained more and more elevation, became more and more engulfed by trees, and drove further and further from civilization. The dirt road twisted and turned until we spotted the log cabin on the left.

We were instantly greeted with a view of the setting sun featuring pinks and oranges dancing across the mountains. After walking through the door, we turned the gas fireplace on. The flames flickered to life and lit up the room. The log cabin interior made us feel cozy, relaxed, and right at home. It was the perfect setting to kick off our honeymoon in a romantic, laid-back fashion.

Red Wolf’s amenities & features

First, we were drawn to the stunning view out of the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the balcony and wooded mountains. In the open living area, there were two cozy couches facing the fireplace and TV, a full kitchen, and wood dining table. Whether cooking, eating, watching a movie, or just relaxing on the couch, we always had an amazing view out of the windows.

Down the hall was the master bedroom featuring a king size bed, TV, closet, and set of drawers. It was spacious and had outdoorsy-themed artwork on the walls, setting the ambiance exquisitely. The connected bathroom included a shower and large bathtub with a set of candles displayed on the tub’s rim. The amenities of the Red Wolf are perfect for a couple’s getaway and made our honeymoon fun and relaxing.

Things to do when staying at Red Wolf

During our stay, our favorite activities included going for walks and runs and hopping in the hot tub. It was so convenient to set out right from our lodging to stretch our legs along the scenic dirt road. More wooded and mountainous views greeted us around every bend. Afterwards, we’d take a dip in the private hot tub, which we found especially refreshing on crisp winter afternoons. With the secluded view and utter tranquility, we were able to fully relax and enjoy the scenic surroundings right from the hot tub.

For entertainment, we indulged in TV and Netflix and faced off in some games. We had previously downloaded movies and TV shows on Netflix to watch cuddled up on the couch in front of the fire. There were board games and a pool table in the downstairs den we played for some friendly competition and fun. Before booking our stay, Carolina Mornings warned us of the limited WiFi at this cabin. However, we found it better that way so we could connect more with each other and leave the digital world behind.

A secluded cabin in the mountains is the best way to get non-distracted one-on-one time with your partner. Does this trip sound like paradise to you? If so, you should start planning a North Carolina mountain vacation with your partner!
