Capping the summer off with the ultimate adventure
It’s been an exciting summer for me travel-wise. I’ve visited four countries (England, Belgium, Germany, and Austria) and nine states in the US, including a cross-country road trip from Tennessee to California. Now, my boyfriend and I are about to embark on our biggest adventure to date together. We are flying to Greenland to hike the Arctic Circle Trail, my first long distance hike.
Greenland isn’t a place I’ve always dreamed of going, honestly I hadn’t thought about visiting until the beginning of this year. We were reading a travel magazine with a list of the top hikes in the world, and the Arctic Circle Trail caught our eyes because of its beautiful and unique views. It was an area of the world we didn’t really know much about, making it extremely appealing.
Instantly, we started researching to see if it was plausible for us to go. We strived to make the hike a priority for us to do together this year. We didn’t want to put it on the back burner and then maybe not ever getting around to doing it. So here we are a few days from our flight to Greenland, packing our camping equipment and food – beyond excited to get our adventure started.
The Article Circle Trail is a 102-mile-long trail located in the backcountry of Greenland from Kangerlussuaq to Sisimiut with a hundred of lakes and lots of unique vegetation and wildlife. This part of the world has a special kind of quiet – absolute serenity with no cars or buildings and very few people. What better way to get a break from the “modern” world than in Greenland, the world’s lowest population density? It truly seems like the perfect off-the-grid vacation.
Needless to say we’re beyond thrilled. Stay tuned for photos and stories from our Greenland adventures.
